Make the most of a birthday trip to the amusement park

Few attractions offer more excitement than an amusement park. Thrill seekers love a ride on soaring roller coasters and other attractions that do their best to provide all the adventure a human body can handle.

The uniquely thrilling nature of amusement parks makes them an ideal place to spend one's birthday. If such a celebration is in the cards, thrill seekers and those brave enough to follow their lead can consider these tips to ensure the day is full of memorable adventures.

· Consider a party package. Depending on how many loved ones are joining the guest of honor, parties may be eligible for party packages with discounted admissions prices and other features. Party packages may include free parking and food and beverage vouchers for each member of the group. Some packages may even provide a cake and/or storage for party items while guests enjoy the rides.

· Upgrade to avoid lines (if possible). Many amusement parks offer guests the option to skip the lines for an extra fee. Guests can pick which rides they want to enjoy and select a time, and then show up at their alloted time and go right on without waiting on lines, which are notoriously lengthy at popular amusement parks. The cost to upgrade might be prohibitive during normal trips to the park but can be well worth it when celebrating one's birthday.

· Carpool to the park. If a party package is unnecessary, carpool to the park via one or two cars or even a rented bus. This saves on parking and may even save party-goers a lengthy walk into and out of the park, as buses generally get to drop riders off close to the gates.

· Make sure your group gets its bearings before arriving at the park. The guest of honor and those joining in the fun can familiarize themselves with the layout of the park ahead of time to ensure time isn't wasted wandering around looking for attractions and other features. Many amusement parks provide maps of the grounds on their websites, so take advantage of this feature to make sure everyone has as much fun as possible.

· Book extras early. If the plan is to visit the park and host a party there as well, then book such extras well in advance to ensure you get first crack at what might be limited amenities. The early birds get the worms at amusement parks, so be sure to book private areas once everyone has settled on the date of the party.

Amusement parks are great places to celebrate, especially when birthday celebrants and their loved ones plan ahead.
