Connie McCain, 70

Connie McCain, 70, of New London, entered the gates of Heaven on December 22, following a courageous battle with cancer. Her funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, at Evangelical Covenant Church in New London with interment in Lake Florida Mission Covenant Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, from 5-7:00 p.m. at the church and continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home, www.hafh.org. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hope Pregnancy Center www.findhopepc.com, MOPS of New London (WowMoms), Compassion International www.compassion.com, or Lake Beauty Bible Camp Scholarship Fund www.lbbc.com.

Connie Ruth Wildman was born on July 20, 1952, in Bertha, MN, the daughter of Joyce and Mildred Wildman. At the age of three, Connie moved to Buffalo with her parents and two sisters. As a young girl, she loved to sew and babysit. She was active in her church youth group and played flute in the school band. She graduated with the Buffalo High School class of 1970. She continued her education by enrolling in the Meeker County Hospital School of Practical Nursing. She earned her LPN degree, which she would use throughout her life as she ministered to the needs of others.

In 1974, Connie moved to Fort Collins, CO, to work as a nurse. During her time there, on a blind date, she met a guy from Louisiana, who had also decided to go west after college. She married Mike McCain in Springfield, MN, on December 6, 1975. Their adventures together started in Mike’s home state and brought them to Cloudcroft, NM, and numerous locations across Texas, as well as travels throughout the world.

Connie is honored for all that her hands have done, and her works are most certainly bringing “her praise at the city gate (Proverbs 31:31).” She was an LPN professionally, however in more than one instance, she worked well below her qualifications as such, to provide whatever a client might need. Often, her clients were the most challenging of children with special physical needs or were the product of tragedy. She viewed this as her mission field.

Also, near and dear to Connie’s heart was the stay-at-home mom. Mike’s career came with many location changes but enabled Connie to be at home while her children were young and to be there after school for their activities growing up. Connie understood the ministry opportunity that existed to encourage young mothers and promote fellowship among them. It was this passion that led her to become one of the founders of the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group at the New London Evangelical Covenant Church. Connie also was an active member and served a term as president of the Willmar Area Christian Women’s Club.

Connie is survived by her husband, Pastor Mike McCain; their children; and grandchildren, Erika (Buddy) Hixon, of Donaldson, Arkansas, Marci (Beau Golberg), of Dassel, Garrett (Amanda) McCain, of Spicer, and Lori McCain, of Shoreview. She was affectionately known as Grandma or Gramma Cain to seven grandchildren, Chloe, Mason, Jarret, Carson, Nolan, Gabby, and Grant.

Aside from the children and grandchildren she doted on, Connie is survived by her two sisters, Cherie (Roger) De Young, of Hugo, and Cindy (John) Haugland, of Litchfield; sister-in-law, Denise (Johnny) Fulkerson; brothers-in-law, David McCain and John Goldstein; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Joyce Wildman; and her mother-in-law, Eddie Fay McCain-Hingle.

Sherry McClintock, 61

Sherry Lee McClintock, age 61, of Buffalo, Minnesota, passed away December 7, 2022.

Sherry is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Emily Marshall; sister, Victoria Staton; niece, Stephanie Page; and many cousins and other friends.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. with visitation one hour prior at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, MN. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo. Online condolences for the family may be directed to www.thepetersonchapel.com.
