John Berg, 84

John Henry Berg, age 84, of Buffalo, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on March 18, 1938, in Howard Lake, the son of Henry and Florence (Luhman) Berg.  

He graduated in 1956 from Buffalo High School. John later attended Gustavus College for a year and two years at Dunwoody Institute.

On June 20, 1958, John H. Berg and Carol E. Rabens were joined in holy marriage at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with four sons and a daughter.

John owned and operated Buffalo Auto Alignment from 1970 until September of 2019.

He was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo and was a former elder.

He was a founding member of the Buffalo Gun Club. John taught gun safety for fifty-two years.

His passions included hunting mallard ducks, fishing for walleye, and shooting trap.

Survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Carol E. Berg; children, Daniel Berg, Marna Kumpula, John L. “J L” (Kim) Berg, Alan (Teresa) Berg, and David Berg and his fiancé, Jody; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Karen (Tom) Bensen; a brother, Jim Berg; other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial service for John Berg will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

Almon Bock II, 77

Almon “Bo” Bock II, age 77, of Plymouth, passed away December 12, 2022.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Kenneth Casperson, 78

Kenneth Gerald Casperson, age 78, of Buffalo, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, at his residence.

A Memorial service for Kenneth Casperson will be held at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice.

Barbara Fehn, 85

Barbara Fehn, age 85, of St. Michael.

Barbara Robeck was born on April 7, 1937, and passed away on December 17, 2022. 

Barbara was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and a regular of Bible study. Having grandchildren and then great grandchildren brought her so much joy; she enjoyed spending time with all of them. She had a special place in her heart for her family. Barbara loved being married to Kenneth and living on the farm where she was born. Barbara and Kenny enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Big Birch Lake, catching fish and frying them up for dinner. One of her favorite pastimes was to quilt; she gifted so many quilts to her family over the years. Playing cards with her family and friends was a regular occurrence throughout her life. She will be missed dearly by so many, but we have peace knowing she is reunited with the loved ones that have gone before her.   

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Mathias and Adeline (Schumacher) Robeck; husband of 63 years, Kenneth Fehn (2020); sons, Paul Fehn (2020), Mark Fehn (2021), and Tony Fehn (2021). 

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Theresa (Brian) Amy, Margie (Howard) Beaudry; daughter-in-law, Janelle Fehn; 17 grandchildren; nine (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara Fehn was held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at The St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael, MN. Father Brian Park was the Celebrant.

Interment followed at The St. Michael Cemetery.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass AT THE CHURCH.

Casket Bearers were Ryan and Alex Fehn, Sean, Brent and Tyler Amy and Levi Fehn.

Frances Lee, 78

Frances Ann Lee, age 78 of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022. She was born August 23, 1943, in South Kingston, Rhode Island, the daughter of Robert E. and Alice Vera (Smith) Gould.

Frances graduated from Kingston High School with the class of 1961. She worked many years at the family nursery in Buffalo – Rohde’s Garden Center.

Frances was a member of the Eastern Star in Buffalo. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoying good times with them.

She was very family oriented and had a funny, but private, personality. She will be dearly missed.

People knew her as Rohde.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard E. Rohde Sr., and Roger Roy Lee Sr.; parents, Robert and Alice Gould; siblings, Mary Ellen Ottem, James Gould; and siblings-in-law, Robert Dworacek, Francis Doane, Valda Gould; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Marvin Hofman); niece LuAnne.

Frances is survived by her significant other, Wayne Houston (her high school sweetheart); children, Richard E. Rohde Jr. (Faith Marie), John R. Rohde (Lisa), Sue Marschel (Jason); grandchildren, Richard (Kate), Trevor, Walter, Madison, Blaine, Kayla (Ben), Justin, Melissa (Kevin), Jamie, Scott, Skyler, Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Bob, Chase, Dakota, Danny, Henry, Emmy, Whitney, Holly, Hazel; step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; siblings, John Gould (Joyce), Roberta Duquette (Richard), Sarah Dworacek, Dorothy Doane, Tag Gould, Teresa Cotto (Chino), Barbara Boss (Bradley) ; nieces Linda Olson (Jamie), Christel Hofman, Theresa Rossi (Scott); Janelle Haur (Pete, Tonia Emon (Kim); and many other loving family and friends.

A celebration of life for Frances is pending.

Beverly Palmer, 92

Beverly Norma (Biegert) Palmer, age 92, of Greenfield and Maple Plain, died Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Haven Homes in Maple Plain, MN.

She was born on Sunday, September 21, 1930, at home on her family farm in Greenfield, the daughter of Richard and Helene Bauer Biegert. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1948. Worked from 1948-1953 for Munsingwear in Minneapolis as a comptometer operator (computer) ordering all the threads used for the Munsingwear line of underwear, shirts, etc. On October 25, 1952, Neil Edgar Palmer and Beverly Norma Biegert were joined in holy marriage at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Reverend W.P. Haar. God blessed their marriage with three children, Kathy Joy in 1953, Barbara Rose in 1955, and John Richard in 1957. 

Beverly worked part-time at the newly built Maple Plain Elementary School as a lunchroom lady. She is remembered by students there for inventing playground games at recess—and included singing with her! She was also active in Orono Singers as a lovely soprano.

Beverly was a faithful member of Salem Church, formerly belonging to Christ Lutheran Church in Maple Plain until 1996. She and Neil worked side-by-side in caring for the Christ Lutheran Cemetery at Maple Plain—taking great pride in the landscape of the cemetery. She was also active with Neil in Lutheran Brotherhood/Thrivent activities in addition to his coaching (and her cheering) for youth boys baseball teams in Maple Plain.

After moving to Greenfield, she poured herself into many activities, including Hanover Senior Citizens, Greenfield Historical Society, Preserve Green Acres, and the Rockford All-school Reunion. Among family, she is well-known for her meticulously made quilts; log cabin quilt patterns were her specialty. And her home and yard were full of flowers—most notable the dozens of African violets of all colors.

Preceded in death by husband, Neil; parents, Richard and Helene Biegert; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Shelby and Ethel Palmer; brothers (and in-laws), Richard Jr. (MaryRose) Biegert, Harvey Biegert; and sister-in-law and husband, Ruth (Lauren) Coleman. 

Survived by children, Kathy (Stuart) Larson, of Park Rapids, MN, Barbara (Keith) Watschke, of Minneapolis, MN, John (Andee) Palmer, of South Ogden, UT; three grandchildren, Erica (Jeremy) Skoglund, of Bismarck, ND, Jennifer (Stephen) Shafer, of Seattle WA, and Scott Palmer, of Leland, NC; four great-grandchildren (and pen pals), Adeline Skoglund, Kjersten Skoglund, Clark Shafer, and Evan Shafer; sisters-in-law, Nancy Biegert, of Loretto, and Zoe Ann Palmer, of Spring Park, MN; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, “shirt-tail” relations and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Salem Lutheran Church or Greenfield Historical Society.

Funeral service for Bev was held Wednesday, December 21, at 11:00 a.m., visitation began at 9:00 a.m., all at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield, MN.

Officiating was Pastor Paul Schuler.

Casket bearers were Dan Biegert, Tim Biegert, Pat Biegert, Mark Biegert, Paul Fix, and Dave Liane.

Interment will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Greenfield, MN.

Arrangements were entrusted to The Peterson Chapel in St. Michael / Albertville.
