Bessie Kimsey, 89

Bessie Ruth Kimsey, age 89, of St. Michael, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at The Legacy of St. Michael in St. Michael.

She was born on January 13, 1934, in Ringgold, Georgia, the daughter of Audley Marshal and Louise Mae Tate.

Bessie Ruth Tate and Jack Kimsey were joined in holy marriage on 28 June 1969. God blessed their marriage with the union of four children, Martin, Earl, Lee, and Gayle. Ruth was formerly employed at Super Valu as a receptionist/switch board operator. She enjoyed playing Bingo, she liked her tablet, her T.V. shows Gunsmoke and Judge Judy, and reading.

Survived by her loving children, Martin and Roseanne (wife) Pahl, Gayle and Daniel (husband) Schlosser, Earl and Mary Kay (wife), and Lee; grandchildren, Racheal A. Moore, Rebecca J. Mischke, Justin Jensen and Melissa Fandrich; great-grandchildren, Odin, Lilia, Colton, Bennett, Lillian, Kathryn, Katie, Shelly, Kristen; step-grandchildren, Christine Kranitz, Lance Schlosser; and step-great-grandchild, Zach Kranitz; Ruth’s two brothers, Paul and Steve Tate.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Kimsey; and by her siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at The Legacy of St. Michael at a later date.

Gloriane Kobbe, 86 

Gloriane (Oldin) Stocke Kobbe passed away peacefully at her home on November 8, 2023, at the age of 86. 

She was born on April 23, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN, to her parents, Helge and Florence (Thiel) Oldin.

Her love for music started at a very young age, playing the concert accordion. At the age of 16, she was declared the National Champion accordion soloist at the Chicagoland Music Festival and was the featured soloist at Soldier Field, playing to 90,000 concert goers. After graduating high school, she went on to earn a certificate in piano musicianship and pedagogy from the National Piano Foundation.

She married James Stocke in 1957, and they welcomed four daughters, whom they raised in Buffalo, MN. Jim and Gloriane enjoyed traveling abroad for Jim’s career, hosting friends for monthly bridge club gatherings, and collecting antiques for their booth at the Buffalo Nickel. She worked for many years as a physical therapy assistant at the Buffalo Hospital, taught piano lessons from her home to many local children, including grandchildren, started and directed the adult handbell choir at the Methodist Church in Buffalo, and supported local concerts and arts activities.  

After Jim’s passing, Gloriane later met and married Richard Kobbe, of Buffalo, MN. They had 10 wonderful years together, taking day trips in Minnesota, entertaining friends from the Farm Bureau Association, attending church, and enjoying their families.

Gloriane had a wide array of friends and was known for being very accepting and social, always planning the next coffee get together, looking forward to meeting her knitting group at church, or staying in touch with her cousins in Sweden. Whether it was teaching herself the harp, using her home kiln to make pottery, or showing her grandchildren how she could still get up on water skis at the age of 70, Gloriane was a warm and loving soul. 

Gloriane is survived by her children, Julie Albrecht, Buffalo, MN, Gayle Miller, Howard Lake, MN, Barb (DuWayne) Dammann, Waconia, MN, Paula (Patrick) Meister, Hanover, MN; grandchildren, Ryan and Nick (Nicole) Albrecht; Nathalie (Tayt) Rinehardt, Andrea Miller, Melisa (Matt) Hill, Jim and Andrew (Ashley) Dammann, Adam and Matthew Meister; nine great-grandchildren who called her 3G, and her Cavalier-Poodle, Lucy. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jim and Richard; and infant granddaughter, Christine Miller.  

Memorials can be directed to the United Methodist Church in Buffalo, MN. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Comfort Keepers and Allina Hospice and give special thanks for the spiritual support from Pastor Amy Strong. 

A private burial will be held.

Randall Payne, 72

Randall (Randy) Vernie Payne, of Minneapolis (formally of Buffalo), sadly passed away on November 10, 2023, of natural causes. He was 72 years old.

Randy was born on March 30, 1951, to Vernie and Yvonne (Isaacson) Payne in Buffalo. Randy was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran church and was confirmed in 1966. Randy graduated from Buffalo High School in 1969 where he received his diploma. Randy worked many jobs and the most recent was Acme Foundry in Minneapolis. Randy was a kindhearted person. He was a hard worker and very meticulous in everything he did. He was always helping his parents out around the house and farm and sister, Robyn, -painting and pet-sitting for her. Randy did not drive much, so he rode his bicycle everywhere. He made several trips from Minneapolis to Big Lake, on the train, where he would bike from Big Lake to Buffalo. He has a 1973 Triumph chopper that he was always tinkering on, and this was his pride and joy. He also owned a 1966 Chevelle SS, among other classic cars that he owned.

He will be sadly missed by his siblings, Tobin (Barb) Payne, Robyn (Doug) Patri, Vanessa Koshak, and JoLinda (Mark) Elletson. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Ryan, Nathan, Mitchell, Easton and Benjamin, Alicia, Malinda, Silvonna, Ashley and Amber; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Levi Elletson.  

Please join us for a celebration of his life at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo on Saturday, November 18, at 2:00 P.M. 

Urn Bearer will be Benjamin Patri.

Interment Lakeview Cemetery, and all are welcome.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, at the funeral home beginning at 12 noon.

Kenneth Urich, 93

Kenneth James Urich, age 93, of Maple Lake, MN, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at The Glenn in Buffalo.

He was born in Buffalo, MN, on March 4, 1930, the son of Charles J. and Julia (Chmela) Urich.

On June 20, 1953, Ken Urich was joined in holy marriage to Patricia J. Middagh at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake. God blessed their marriage with a son.

Mr. Urich honorably served his country in the U.S. Army as an Engineer in the Korean War. He was formerly employed from 1958 – 1972 at the Maple Lake, Buffalo, and Monticello Creameries. He later was employed at Wright-Hennepin Electric from 1972 – 1992. Ken liked the out of doors, gardening, and fixing in his garage.

Survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Patricia J. Urich; a son, Brian Kenneth Urich, of Maple Lake; several nieces and nephews further survive.

Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Urich and Alice Laxen; and by a brother, Ray Urich.

Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth J. Urich will be held on Thursday, November 16, at 11:30 A.M. at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake.  Fr. Kenneth Magner will be the Celebrant. Interment with military rites will be held at St. Timothy’s Cemetery.

Visitation was at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo on Wednesday, November 15, from 4-8 P.M. Further visitation will be held at the church ONE hour prior to Mass.

Casket bearers will be Brian Urich, Tom Neumann, Scott Maselter, Randy Urich, Mike Nelson, and Dwight Nelson.
