Jeffrey Anderson, 62

Jeffrey Charles Anderson, age 62, of Buffalo, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Jeffrey was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered for his hard work, kindness, and love for his family.

Jeff was born on October 6, 1961, in Robbinsdale, MN, to Charles and Elva (Zielke) Anderson.

As a resident of Buffalo, MN, Jeff was an active member of Buffalo Ev. Covenant Church, where he found solace, friendship, and community. 

Jeff had a passion for fishing, often spending his free time on the water, enjoying the serenity and beauty of nature. He was known to know the best fishing spots, which became cherished memories shared with his children and grandchildren.

For many years, Jeffrey was a dedicated and hardworking employee at Landscape Structures in Delano, MN, where he earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues. His work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to his work were always evident.

Above all, Jeff was a devoted family man. He was a wonderful grandpa who adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Jeff was a devoted husband and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia, who passed away in 2019. 

Jeff is survived by daughter, Krystal (Tyler) Purtilo; grandsons, Easton and Tate Purtilo; mother, Elva Anderson; brothers, Brian (Jane) Anderson and Kevin (Heather) Anderson; brothers-in-law, Brad (Andrea) Klatke and Mark Klatke; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Anderson; wife, Cynthia Anderson; and brother, Stephen Anderson.

A funeral service will be held for Jeff on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Buffalo Ev. Covenant Church in Buffalo, MN.

Interment at Swedish Mission Cemetery in Buffalo, MN, immediately following the service.

Reception at the Buffalo Ev. Covenant Church following the interment.

Paul Borscheid, 71

Paul Donald Borscheid, of Hutchinson, MN, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, at the age of 71 at Hutchinson Hospital after a 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Paul was born on November 5, 1952, to Donald and Ruth Borscheid in Buffalo, MN. He grew up on a farm near Buffalo and later attended St. Cloud State University, where he earned degrees in Mathematics and Physics. After graduating, he began a career as an engineer at HTI, where he worked for over 30 years.

After moving to Hutchinson, he met his future wife, Judy Baklund. They married in 1987, and Paul became a stepfather while also welcoming two more children into their family. Paul’s children were his pride and joy, and they fondly remember his unconditional love and support. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing horseshoes, and was an avid runner. He participated in numerous races and proudly took first place in his age group countless times. Even after moving to Ecumen Oakview Court, Paul’s love for running never waned, making it the safest place for him. 

Paul is survived by his wife, Judy Borscheid. Children, Heather (Leyse) and Zak Langley, Hope Hagert (Borscheid), Evan and Stephanie Borscheid. Grandchildren, Jackson and Benjamin Hagert, Ryker and Aubrey Borscheid, and Ella Langley. Siblings, Carol Gilles (Borscheid) and Tim, David Borscheid, and John Borscheid.  

 A celebration of life will be held at Riverside Park in Hutchinson on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 1 p.m. Paul’s family invite everyone who knew him to join and share stories of his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Ecumen Oaks, in honor of Paul Borscheid.

 


Harland Marschel, 83

Harland H. Marschel, age 83, of Burnsville, formerly of Buffalo, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024.

Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Carol “Annie;” children, Brent (Lori), Wayde (Krista), Lori (Eric) Nelson; grandchildren, Brian, Brandon, Brad, Larissa, Zack, Haley; and six great-grandchildren.

Henry Mavencamp, 90

Henry “Pete” Mavencamp, age 90, of St. Benedict’s Senior Community in Monticello, formerly of Maple Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2024, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with Fr. John Meyer and Fr. Mark Juettner as Celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Monday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Henry Peter Mavencamp was born on Happy Knoll Farm, the Mavencamp family farm, to Henry Peter Mavencamp Sr. and Amelia (Latour) on November 24, 1933, the fifth of nine children. He attended Maple Lake Elementary School and Maple Lake High School, graduating in 1951.

Following his graduation, Pete enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country as a Naval firefighter. After being honorably discharged, he began employment at Lake Region Coop in Maple Lake, where he became manager of the petrol products division and LP gas service division for 23 years, retiring in 1978.

Pete met his wife to-be, Charlene Bruns, in church, and two years later, they were married on August 20, 1955, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Their first home was on the Otto Bonnick farm in Maple Lake. In 1961, they purchased the original Mavencamp Farm from his father, Henry, becoming the third generation to own the home place, Happy Knoll Farm. He and Charlene continued the dairy business originated by Pete’s grandfather, Henry Peter, for the next 50 years. He continued to farm the land until he and Charlene retired in 2018, and Happy Knoll Dairy Farm was sold.

Pete was appointed the first Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist at St. Timothy’s Parish by Rev. Leo Byrne D.D., Archbishop of St. Paul. He also served 20 years as a trustee. He was a member of the American Legion Post #131. He was chosen Grand Marshal of the Maple Lake St. Patrick’s Day Parade. He also served several years on the Maple Lake City Council and Maple Lake Public School Board of Education.

After retiring, Pete and Charlene enjoyed traveling, and wintered at their home in Texas. He loved hunting, especially deer hunting, and spending time at the cabin on Blueberry Hill, where he taught his children and grandchildren to hunt and spend time in the woods. He loved his family unconditionally, his religion, and his country, along with his Indian motorcycle. Nothing pleased him more than when there was a family gathering.

Pete is survived by his wife of 69 years, Charlene, of Monticello; children, Cindy (Jerry) Miessen, Charlene (Roger) Wurm, Christine Dombrovski (David Barthel), Henry Peter (JoMarie) Mavencamp III, David (Debra) Mavencamp, Charles Mavencamp, and Robert Mavencamp; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen (Tom) Mooney; brother-in-law, Kenny Rachel; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, other family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Jack Mavencamp; and sisters, Charlotte Sherrard, Mary Elliott, Genevieve Aritt, Barbara Koshiol, and Emily Rachel.

Pete’s children will serve as urn bearers and his grandchildren will serve as honorary urn bearers. Krista Elsenpeter and Sarah Goelz will provide music for the service.

Dwayne Puffer, 92

Dwayne A. Puffer, age 92, of Buffalo, MN, passed away on August 29, 2024.  

Dwayne was born the son of Floyd and Elsie (Wright) Puffer on August 12, 1932, in Montrose, MN.

He was baptized on April 17, 1933, at the United Methodist Church in Montrose, MN. Dwayne attended and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1950.

On September 8, 1956, Dwayne was united in marriage to Dolores Lucille (nee’ Kettenacker) at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN.

Dwayne was employed at the Oakley National Bank from 1950 until 1977 and then was the Wright County deputy court administrator from 1977 until his retirement in 1994.

During his career he also served the Buffalo and surrounding communities in many ways.  From being a Boy Scout leader, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Wright County Banker’s Association, Buffalo Airport Board, Buffalo parade chairman, Wright County American Cancer board, and treasurer of the Wright County American Heart Association, Dwayne was a dedicated member of the community.

Dwayne was also an active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church where he served as a board member, was treasurer of the congregation, and taught Sunday School for many years.

In his retirement, he loved to go golfing and have coffee with his many friends. He especially enjoyed the time spent traveling with Dolores to all the lower 48 states, Mexico, and Canada.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard “Dick” Puffer; sister-in-law, Mary Puffer; niece, Susie Puffer; and nephew, Wesley Puffer.

Dwayne is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores Puffer; sister, Margie Puffer; also many other relatives and friends.

Memorial service for Dwayne was held Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, MN.

Pastor Ryan Clark officiated.

Reception at the chapel followed the service.

Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford, MN.

Thomas Williamson, 82

Thomas Earl Williamson, age 82, of Buffalo, MN, passed away September 2, 2024.

Visitation was held Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church – 8741 County Road 13 SE, Delano, MN.

Funeral Service will take place the following day on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Interment to follow at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Delano, MN.
