Clyde Adickes, 75
Clyde Walter Adickes, of Miltona, MN, and formerly of Lester Prairie, MN, and Park Rapids, MN.
Clyde Walter Adickes was born on February 7, 1951, to Arthur and Dolores (Lange) Adickes at the Watertown Hospital in Watertown, MN. He was baptized on February 25, 1951, at Mt. Olive Lutheran church in Delano, MN. Serving as his sponsors were his aunt and uncle, Vera Roy and Clifford Lange. On May 3, 1964, Clyde was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montrose, MN, by Pastor Gerhard Geiger. Clyde’s confirmation verse was John 10: 27–28.
While attending a New Year’s Eve dance in Waverly, MN, Clyde met Gwen Bodin and a courtship ensued. On October 20, 1973, Gwendolyn Marie Bodin and Clyde Walter Adickes were joined in marriage. Pastor Ed Blair officiated the ceremony at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN. To this union three children were born, Michelle Penny, Joleen Harriet, and Aaron Clyde.
Clyde grew up on the family farm southeast of Montrose, MN, near Fountain Lake. Clyde attended Montrose Elementary school through the sixth grade and completed his high school years in Buffalo, MN. He graduated on May 29, 1969, from Buffalo High School. From the young age of six, Clyde helped on his parent’s dairy farm due to his father’s disability with his hip. Clyde was active in the Hilltoppers 4-H Club, which included showing cattle at the Wright County Fair. He also had a love for riding horseback with the neighborhood farm kids. Clyde enjoyed hunting and fishing. In high school Clyde was active with the wrestling team and was a member of FFA.
After graduating from high school Clyde drove milk truck for the Delano Creamery. In January 1971, Clyde was drafted into the United States Army and completed his basic training at Fort Riley KS. He was later given a hardship discharge in September 1971, due to his father’s disability and being needed on the farm, at which time he returned home. In late 1971, the DNR incorporated part of the Adickes farm into the Fountain Lake wetlands. During this time, the family chose to sell the remaining part of the Montrose farm. In December of 1971, the Adickes family purchased and moved to a farm southwest of Lester Prairie MN. It was here that Clyde and his brother, Daryl, formed a partnership and engaged in dairy and livestock farming. In 1991, the brothers made the decision to quit milking cows. They held an auction and rented the farmland out. Clyde then went on to drive truck for Lano Implement. In April of 1994, Clyde and Gwen purchased a supper club and moved to the town of Miltona, MN. Here they were active in the community and enjoyed a host of many good friends. Clyde and Daryl later sold the farm in 1995.
Clyde and Gwen always had a love for the northern Minnesota area. In 2004, they sold their supper club. They then purchased a parcel of land and lived in their home in the rural Park Rapids area for the next 18 years. While living in Park Rapids, Clyde drove semi for various companies in the area. Together, Clyde and Gwen enjoyed many days of fishing, traveling, and socializing with friends in the Park Rapids and Nevis area. Clyde suffered for many years from back and heart issues. Due to declining health, they sold their home in rural Park Rapids in 2022. They returned to Miltona, MN, where they purchased a home to be closer to family and friends.
In September of 2025, Clyde suffered a heart attack along with other major health concerns and was hospitalized in St Cloud, MN. He entered a nursing home in October of 2025. Clyde resided at Alex Assisted Living in Alexandria, MN, where he passed away surrounded by loved ones on June 20, 2026, at the age of 75.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gwen; his children, daughter, Joleen (Allan) Dose, of Arlington, MN; and his son, Aaron (April) Adickes, of Parkers Prairie, MN; his grandchildren, Lilly, Rachael, and Grant Dose and Blake and Mya Adickes; a sister, Carol Jean (Gerald) Kamps, of Norwood, MN; and his brother, Daryl Adickes, of Lester Prairie, MN; his aunts, Jean Pettit and Renee Lange; sisters-in-law, Eileen Bodin, Joan (Willie) Bauernschmitt, Jan (Tom) Fitzpatrick, and Cheryl (Ron) Philippi; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Clyde was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Michelle; his parents, Art and Dolores Adickes; grandparents, Fred and Louise (Krause) Adickes, Walter and Lydia (Lemmerman) Lange; and nephew, Dale Kamps; Clyde’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Harriet Bodin; brothers-in-law, Jack Bodin and Daniel Bodin; along with a host of aunts and uncles.
A Memorial service for Clyde Adickes will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 12 noon at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 149 4th Avenue in Miltona, MN, with visitation two hours prior to services. Pastor Kirk Lee will be the officiant. Deb Joachim will be the organist.
Serving as Urn Bearers will be Clyde’s grandchildren.
Inurnment with military rites will be held on Sunday, June 28, at 12 noon at Marysville Swedesburg Lutheran Cemetery in rural Waverly, MN. This is open to the public; this is not private family only.
The family requests you dress casually per Clyde’s wishes.
The family would like to thank the Alex Assisted Living nursing staff, along with the Douglas County Hospice nursing staff, for their tender care. They would also like to thank Chaplin Kathy Hodges and Pastor Kirk Lee for their visits and comforting words.

Alan Burke, 87
Burke, Alan R., age 87, of Maple Lake, Minnesota, died June 20, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2026, with visitation one hour prior at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5460 63rd St. NW, Maple Lake, MN, with Rev. Culynn Curtis officiating. Interment to follow at Marysville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Alzheimer’s Association, Alz.org.
Big Al was born on May 21, 1939, to Rudolph and Nellie (Berg) Burke, the second of three children. It is rumored that when he came out, he gave the doctor a high five before being handed to his mother. Growing up in various parts of the country, he naturally concluded that Minnesota-clearly the best state-should be his forever home.
After graduating from Minnehaha Academy, where he was granted the ability to bestow talents to younger classmates, he attended the University of Minnesota. While he still had some strawberry-blonde locks of hair, he decided to pop the question to a lovely girl named Sandra Olson, the love of his life. They married in 1965 and built a home on Rock Lake (the garage came later) where they raised their children, Sonya (with a “y”) and Eric (with a “c”), as the rest of his hair quickly migrated to his back.
Al often demonstrated his near-superhuman grip strength by opening jars of pickles before the saucer-like eyes of his amazed offspring and nephews. He also graciously lost the biggest mouth contest to his sister-in-law while at the same time winning the pancake eating contest.
He was a local legend at libraries and bookstores with his page-at-a-glance reading ability, without ever receiving a paper cut. Some of his favorite authors included Clive Cussler, Stephen King, I. P. Freely, and, of course, Seymour Hare. His love of books was matched by a passion for music, and Al was a fixture in the church choir for decades, where it was said he could sing the angels from the sky.
An avid outdoorsman, but terrible marksman, he nonetheless enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting in the fall and spent countless hours flailing the lake with a fishing line, occasionally with success. He also coached T-ball and Little League, sharing his time and enthusiasm with countless young athletes.
After choosing to accept the mission of being “Grandpa Burke” in 2002, he enjoyed many trips to Japan, carrying out his duties as an international man of mystery, spending time with his grandchildren, and developing a fondness for sushi. When not jet-setting around the globe, he crisscrossed the US as a delivery driver, sending postcards from nearly every state reachable by road. Those postcards became treasured reminders that Grandpa was thinking of them, no matter where his next mission took him.
Above all, Al was devoted to Sandra, his partner in adventures for more than sixty years. Together, they built a life filled with family, music, books, laughter, skunk figurines, a disastrous ant farm, and stories, some of which are still classified.
He will be remembered for his curiosity, sense of humor, love of books and music, and the joy he brought to all who were lucky enough to know him.
Lois Cichon, 82
Lois Lucille Linhart Cichon, age 82, of Buffalo, MN, formerly Black Canyon City, AZ, and Rockford, MN, passed away on June 11, 2026. Lois was born on April 21, 1944, in St Cloud to William and Margaret Linhart. She was a devoted wife to Fred, whom they married on July 28, 1962, and together, they shared just short of 64 years of marriage.
Lois dedicated her life to taking care of her family. During her life, she had many different forms of employment. She was part of Minnesota history and worked at the renowned Tonka Toys factory. She had many years of completing people’s taxes, raising many chickens, and a huge garden to have canned food in the freezer and pantry for her family. She was employed at Honeywell while in Arizona. Also, during her years in Arizona, she was a Pilot car driver for oversized loads. “How many other wives get to chase their husbands down the road while they are working?” This was her favorite, as she was side by side with her husband. She loved flowers, crafting, and had even sewn matching outfits for the family one Christmas.
Lois is survived by her husband, Fred; son, Kevin; daughter, Beth; grandchildren, Nathan (Whitney) Cichon, Alissa (Zach) Rosenberg; and great-grandchildren, Maci and Nathan Jr.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kimberlee; son, William ‘Billy;’ parents, William and Margaret Linhart.
Visitation will be held at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, MN, on Saturday, June 27, 2026. A luncheon will follow at Parkview Terrace Senior Living. She is being cremated, and we will have a private burial at a later date. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time.

Mary Denzin, 88
Mary Ruth Denzin, 88, of rural Buffalo, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society of Howard Lake.
She was born October 10, 1937, in Rockford Township, Wright County, Minnesota, to Walter and Elsa (Engel) Berglund.
Mary was baptized on November 21, 1937, instructed in the Lutheran Catechism, and confirmed in the Christian faith on September 14, 1952.
Mary graduated from Buffalo High School in 1956.
On May 27, 1961, Mary Ruth Berglund and Harvey F. Denzin were united in holy marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Mary formerly worked in the pharmaceutical labs at Upsher-Smith.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, baking, cake decorating, horseshoes, traveling, and fishing.
Mary was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Harvey F. Denzin; children, Marjorie (Mike) Stewig, Brenda (Dale) Theis, and Harley (Sheri) Denzin; grandchildren, Blair Stewig, Hanna Stewig, James Theis, Rachelle Triden, Rebecca Long-Vehrenkamp, and Ellery Denzin; great-grandchildren, Poppy Theis, Peyton Theis, and Wesley Long-Vehrenkamp; siblings, Carol Oswald and Glen “Sonny” Berglund; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Janet Berglund, Lydia Heins, Lillian Conzet, Harvey Berglund, and Stanley Berglund.
Funeral services for Mary Ruth Denzin will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Saturday, June 27, one hour before the service at the church.
Casket bearers will be her six grandchildren, Blair Stewig, Hanna Stewig, James Theis, Rachelle Triden, Rebecca Long-Vehrenkamp, and Ellery Denzin.

Roy Henry Sr., 86
Roy John Henry Sr., age 86, of Montrose, MN, passed away on June 14, 2026. He was born on August 3, 1939, in Round Prairie, Minnesota. He was the son of John and Hildegard (Klein) Henry. Fought cancer for eight years, when he was only given three months to live, but with his treatments, he was here with us an additional eight.
Roy graduated from St. Mary High School in 1958 went onto work for his dad, John. On October 30, 1965, Roy and Sylvia (Driver) Henry were joined in holy marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, MN. They built a life together and raised their family in Waverly, MN. Roy has taught many life skills to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed mowing the lawn, garage sales, duck hunting, small engine repair, engine mechanic work, and wood working. Roy and Sylvia were married for 60 years.
Roy is survived by his children, Joyce “Gabby” (Jon) Harty, Tom Thayer, Kiz (John) Willner, Roy “Coco” Henry, and Sylvia “Sissy “Daniels; son-in-law, Bill Krouse; grandchildren, Phill, Tracy (Tom), Kelly (Brandon), Jim, Carrie (David), Niles (Jackie), Neila (Travis), Thomas, Chantrell, Josh, Isaac, Veronica, John, and Jenna; followed by 24 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Dudley Griener, sister-in-law, Peggy Henry, Pam Henry Neaton (Brian).

Susan Jurmu, 59
Susan Faye (Karvonen) Jurmu, age 59, of New Castle, Colorado, passed away on June 22, 2026, at her cabin on Lake Pulaski in Buffalo, MN.
Born in Minneapolis on January 8, 1967, Sue was the first of eight children born to parents Kenneth and Charlene Karvonen. She was raised in a loving home in Delano while attending Buffalo Schools, graduating in 1985. She and her family loved to spend summer days at Lake Pulaski, while she could be found on the slopes of Powder Ridge in the winter.
Throughout her childhood and adolescent years, Sue and her family were active members of Minneapolis Laestadian Lutheran Church.
Upon graduation in 1985, Sue began working as a professional secretary in downtown Minneapolis. She loved her job and spending those days in the city. With her knack for numbers and a keen memory, she thrived in this environment.
On September 17, 1988, Sue married Mathew Jurmu. They knew one another in childhood and saw their relationship blossom as they shared in youth work at church.
Together, they reared 10 children, spending their first 26 years of marriage in Minnesota and the last 12 years in Colorado. No matter where home was, visitors were always welcome, and the kitchen was always open. Matt and Sue were active members of the Minneapolis, then Rockford, then Roaring Fork Valley congregations.
Sue was always planning the next trip. She loved to be with her family and loved ones on the beaches in Florida, in the mountains in Colorado, camping throughout the country, or truly anywhere that she could be surrounded by loved ones.
Sue spent her last three years battling pancreatic cancer. Despite the difficult journey, she maintained an optimistic outlook and spent much of those years searching for her long-dreamt of Minnesota lake cabin. She realized that dream when her and Matt bought one on Lake Pulaski in Buffalo, MN. She spent her last days there surrounded by her family and loved ones before being called to her Heavenly Home.
Sue is survived by her husband, Matt; children, Jaclyn (Michael) Pikkarainen, Brandon (Lea), Logan (Erika), Alex (Whitney), Patrick (Elle), Carmen (Blaise) Byman, Peyton (Chloe), Olivia, Cade, and Harrison; 37 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Miriam Jurmu; and many siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by mother, Charlene Hillstrom (Hill, Karvonen); father, Kenneth Karvonen; father-in-law, Robert Jurmu; and grandson, Beckham Pikkarainen.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Rockford Laestadian Lutheran Church, there was a visitation starting at 10 a.m. with the funeral service held at noon.

Eleanor O’Donnell, 89
Eleanor Joan O’Donnell, age 89, of St. Paul, Minnesota, was born on August 12, 1936, in Maple Lake, Minnesota, to Louis and Lenora Stumpf. She passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Peace Hospice on June 11, 2026, surrounded by love.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John; parents; sister, Anna Purcell; sister-in-law, Marlene Stumpf; John’s sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Louis Ramackel. She is survived by children, Jay (Joy), Trish (Pete) Sydow, Tom (Heidi Fancher), and Mary (Charlene Hoff); nine grandchildren (Rachel, Andy, Maggie, J.D., Jacob, Abigail, Sophie, Sam, and Noah); 13 great-grandchildren (Amelia, Eleanor, Olivia, Greta, Samson, Edgar, Campbell, Adelaide, Waylon, Crew, Carsyn, Rowan, and Declan); brother, Jim; brother-in-law, Larry Purcell; sister, Connie (Bill) Smith; sister, Cathy (Bob) Quady; many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 29, 2026, at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 1938 Stanford Ave., St. Paul, MN, 9:30 A.M. visitation, 10:30 A.M. service.

Charlene Reinert, 72
Charlene E. Reinert, age 72, of Buffalo, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
She was born in Little Falls, Minnesota, on June 13, 1954, the daughter of Rhinehart and Lorraine (Johnson) Walz.
Char and Bob were joined in Holy Matrimony at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Corcoran, Minnesota, on March 12, 1976. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.
Charlene was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo.
She enjoyed 30 wonderful years at Walmart.
Charlene loved her daughters and grandchildren very much!
She enjoyed cooking, flowers, and gardening.
Charlene loved planning family gatherings and getaways.
Survived by her loving husband, Robert D. Reinert; daughters, Lisa Marie (Ken) Reinert and Sarah Jean (Arron) Gustafson; granddaughters, Miranda Zitzloff and Savannah Gustafson; a step-grandchild, Jerid Gustafson; brothers, Bob (Betty) Walz and James (Mercy) Walz; a sister, Debra (John) Erickson; other relatives and many friends.

Jean Schreifels, 77
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Jean Devitt Schreifels, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Jean, born on February 19, 1949, in the welcoming town of Prior Lake, Minnesota, peacefully departed this world on June 14, 2026, at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with illness. She was at home, surrounded by her loving family, just as she had lived - enveloped in love and warmth.
Jean was the cherished daughter of Burdette and Ethel (Clemens) Devitt, who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and an unwavering faith.
She was the beloved sister of Pat (Rosemary) Devitt, Ray (Sue) Devitt, and Mary (Gary) Anderson; and the sister-in-law of Nellie “Jeanette” Devitt and Joe Hommrich.
She joins in eternal peace her husband, Mike; her parents; grandparents; and her siblings, Larry, Lenny, Jack, and Carol.
Her journey was marked by a deep and abiding love for her family. Jean married the love of her life, Mike Schreifels, on April 11, 1975, in South Dakota. Together, they built a life rich with love, laughter, and devotion, raising two wonderful children, Carrie (Gene) South, of Becker, and Patrick Schreifels, of Clearwater. This union, lasting 43 years until Mike’s passing in 2018, was a beacon of strength and partnership. Their love story is one that will be fondly remembered by all who know them.
Jean was the proud grandmother to Zach (Rachael), Zarra, Zarae (Micah-Ray), Zeth, Triston, Hunter, and Ashley; and the doting great-grandmother to her beautiful great-granddaughter, Elliana. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to flourish through their lives.
A graduate of Prior Lake High School in 1967, Jean’s education was just the beginning of a life dedicated to connection and community. Her faith was her anchor, a guiding force that filled her with strength and grace through all of life’s challenges. Her spiritual conviction inspired those around her and was a testament to the peace and resilience that she embodied.
Jean’s vibrant spirit was evident in her love for life and people. She thrived on the warmth and connection of family gatherings and cherished friendships. Her playful and competitive nature shone brightly on the softball field in her younger years, in the bowling leagues she joined later, and in every spirited card game she played. Her home, always filled with laughter and love, reflected her nurturing spirit and her joy for life, especially during her cherished tradition of selecting fresh flowers each spring to brighten her surroundings.
Her warm spirit, keen sense of humor, and dedication to her community left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path. Jean had an extraordinary ability to bring people together, sharing stories, laughter, and love. Her life was a testament to the power of connection, and she would be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Jean’s journey was one of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the countless lives she touched along the way. Her memory will forever be a beacon of light and love, guiding us through the days ahead.
