Artists filled Monticello streets with color

The annual Let’s Chalk event in Monticello was held on Saturday, September 9, and Sunday, September 10, behind the Monticello Community Center, located on Walnut Street in downtown Monticello. The weekend event went from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Artists of all ages and skill levels traveled from across the United States to participate in the event. Children also had the opportunity to create their own art in open areas.

The chalk festival also included food, kids’ games, and live music performed on both days by Elizabeth Keeney, Andy Duszynski, John Kerns, and MELody and DARmony. Vendor booths included the Monticello Lions, Monticello Rotary, Nordic Brewing, La Michoacana, Monticello Women of Today, and more.

Three featured artists were Marisa Alvarado, Shawn McCann, and Allison Severson. Each of the artists are known for their skills in chalk art, as well as other mediums.

The event is put on each year by the City of Monticello and Monti Arts.
