Lyle Collver, 65

Lyle Collver, age 65, of Monticello, passed away on August 13, 2019. 

Lyle was Co-Owner of Blackslinemen Supply and Utility Tool Repair in Becker.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Evelyn (Everett) Lindholm; father, Lyle Collver; sister, Colleen (Dan) Montoye. 

Lyle enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, camping, fishing, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling, and riding his motorcycle. Most of all, he just liked to hang out with his friends, shoot the breeze and have a cocktail or two. 

He will be missed by: his wife of 30 years, Karen; son, Anthony Lyle; half-brother, Kelly Collver; nephew, Joe Montoye; nieces, Kim Jordan and Leah Anderson; other family and friends. 

A Celebration of Lyle’s life was held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2019 at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 E Broadway, Monticello. Visitation started at 10 a.m. at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel.

 


Suzanne Dachel, 83

Suzanne C. (nee Welch) Dachel, age 83, of Golden Valley, went home to the Lord on August 13, 2019. 

Suzanne was born and raised in Buffalo, to parents, Thomas P. and Mary Lillian Welch.

Preceded in death by: beloved husband, Rod; sister, Mary Auger (Duane); brother-in-law, David Dachel (Mary).  Survived by sons, Thomas and David; daughter, MaryTeresa Byker (Bennett); grandchildren, Drew Dachel, Jessica Dachel and Thomas Baker. 

Suzanne was a dedicated member of St. Mary of the Lake parish, an Oblate of St. Benedict and a graduate of St. Benedict’s College, St. Joseph. Suzanne was a dedicated, loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.  She worked as a teacher and later as a psychiatric nurse.  She and Rod had a long and happy marriage.  Suzanne was a faithful and loyal servant of God. 

Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m. Friday, August 16 at the Church of St. Mary of the Lake, 105 N. Forestview Lane, Plymouth. Visitation was at church Friday, one hour before mass.  Internment  was at Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope.

Memorials preferred to the Mayo Foundation for Alzheimer’s Research.

Gearty-Delmore served the family.

 


Warren Daluge, 70

Warren Daluge, age 70, of Loretto, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, from complications of a farming accident.

He was born September 26, 1948 to Leonard E. & Alice O. (Nelson) Daluge.  He was baptized, confirmed and was a life-long member of Salem Lutheran Church in Greenfield.  Warren worked as a Teamster, but his heart and soul belonged to family, farming, friends, tractor pulling, and truck and machinery repair. 

Warren is survived by: loving wife, Sally; children, Bill (Shannon) Daluge, and Cathy (Matthew) Kohnen; grandchildren: Jack Daluge; Willie (JoJo) Kohnen and Rebecca Kohnen; great-grandchildren: Harlee and Waylon Kohnen; siblings: Orville (Shelley) Daluge; Marlys (Bill Fluseman) Mooney and Marilyn (Farrell) Hart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester Daluge, brother-in-law, Mark Mooney.

Visitation was held on Sunday, August 18 from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9515 Pioneer Trail, Greenfield. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 12 noon with Pastor Paul Schuler officiating. Additional visitation was 2 hours prior to services at the church.

Casket Bearers were Brad Bartholomew, Dean Voss, Gordy Thomas, Rod Blue, Dave Heinz, Mark Weber, Joel Wiltscheck and Randy Johnson.

The family invited those attending to wear a blue tee shirt and jeans.  In lieu of memorials…pay it forward.  Help a friend or neighbor.

Susan Hanaford, 81

Susan Amy Hanaford “Sue,” age 81, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019.

She was born on October 12, 1937 to Roscoe and Alice Hanaford. She grew up on the ancestral family farm and attended country school for eight years.  Susan graduated from Monticello High School in 1955 and then from St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College) in 1960 with a degree in Christian Education.

In 1960, she moved to New York City to work at the Christian and Missionary Alliance headquarters as assistant, and ghost writer, to the National Christian Education Director. After Leaving New York in 1964, she returned to Minnesota to join the St. Paul Bible College as secretary to the Dean of Students and headed the Christian Service Department.

During this time, she enjoyed traveling with music groups while representing the college and spent a summer working in Bermuda. Later in 1971, Susan took on a new role with Meadow Creek Baptist Church in Anoka. She worked as a secretary and oversaw the Christian Education Ministries. For three years, she took students on mission trips to Appalachia, West Virginia.

Beginning in 1978, Susan became involved with Gospel Light Publications out of Ventura, California as a consultant for churches who needed help with their Christian Ed curriculum. One of the highlights of her ministry here was traveling with their training program.

From 1977-1991, Susan worked as a Children’s Director/Pastor at Grace Church in Edina. She led the programs from birth to sixth grade and developed a volunteer team that helped with the ministry. They went on many retreats and seminars. She also helped develop day camps, field trips, and preschool programs. After leaving Grace Church, she worked at First Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton, California, from 1991-2010. As the Children’s Director there, she guided a staff of eight women who oversaw up to 1,000 children.

While residing in California, Susan served with the Greater LA Sunday School Convention and was on the board for the Fullerton Release Time Program, which provided Bible training for elementary children. In 2015, she returned to her roots and moved back to Monticello.

Susan was loved and will be greatly missed by her many cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Riverside Church, 20314 County Road 14 in Big Lake. Visitations will be Thursday, August 22 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at church and one hour prior to service. Interment at Riverside Cemetery in Monticello.

JoAnn Maltman, 76

JoAnn Maltman, age 76, of Monticello, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Aug. 15, 2019.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Frank and Evelyn Personius; sister, Gloria Bartel.

JoAnn is survived by: her husband of 19 years, Jerry; children, Barbie (Steve) Berg, Dale (Tracy) Anderson and Scott Anderson; grandchildren, Ryan (Amber), Colin (Micayla), Dusty Joe and Noelle; other family and friends. 

A Celebration of JoAnn’s life will be at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12449 Clementa Ave NW, Monticello, with visitation beginning at 4 p.m.

 

 

 

 


Maria Medina, 82

Maria Guadalupe Medina, of Rogers, went to meet the Lord, surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 11, 2019. She was 82 years old.

Maria was born on May 15, 1937 in Coatepec Harinas, Mexico to father, Jose Guadalupe Hernandez and mother, Carmen Marcial. Maria married Roberto Medina Anaya in 1966. Together they raised two sons, Rodolfo Medina and Marco Medina, and four daughters, Ana Nidia Bivans, Blanca Bivans, Belinda Bergren, and Vanessa Sanchez.  Maria moved her family to Minnesota in the early 1980’s where they built their home and became part of a new community.

Maria was the matriarch of the family and was lovingly referred to as Grandma by everyone. Grandma enjoyed the warmth of her family’s company and knew how to make her house a home. The family always gathered at her house, where she would make sure the family ate the most delicious food. When she was younger, she was an avid reader, took joy in bird watching, dancing and her sewing projects.

Maria was known for her compassion and generosity, always wanting to help others in need such as “sponsoring a child in Africa.” She was a humble soul who made countless sacrifices and always put her family’s well-being first.  Grandma was known for her honesty, faith, her infectious smile, and her kind and loving spirit.

Maria was preceded in death by: her father, Jose; her mother, Carmen; and her son, Rodolfo, also known as Rodis. She is survived by: her husband, Roberto; her five living children, Ana Nidia (John), Blanca (Gary), Marco (Melissa), Belinda (Eric) and Vanessa; and her 19 grandchildren, Rodolfo, Sildis, Melissa, Karen, Tony, Alex, James, Sarah, Daniel, Ashley, Danielle, Anthony, Emma, Ethan, Chellsey, Brandon, Brianna, Andrew and  Matthew; and 14 great-grandchildren Benjamin, Jacob, Caleb, Wyatt, Lauren, Ellen, Annabelle, Peter, Sophie, Ellis, Santiago, Rafael, Bristol and Audrey; and two sisters, Oralia Hernandez de Leon and Virginia Hernandez.

Funeral services for Maria Guadalupe Medina were held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Wooddale Church, 6630 Shady Oak Road, in Eden Prairie. A luncheon followed the services. Interment will follow at The Hanover City Cemetery. A visitation was held from 10 o’clock a.m. at the church until time of services.   

Flowers were sent to Wooddale Church. Donations may be sent to: Medina Family - 10717 185th Circle NW, Elk River, MN 55330. These will be donated to Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

The family gives a special thank you for the care and love provided by the hospital staff at Minneapolis Heart Institute - Abbot Northwestern Hospital. The family would also like to thank all extended family and friends for their support, love and prayers during this difficult time. Grandma will always be in our hearts until we meet again.

April Pivec, 34

April Lynn Pivec, age 34, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019. She was born on April 17, 1985 to Gordon Hackworth and Sheri Pivec, in Buffalo.

April was a caring, loving person. She possessed a bubbly personality. She loved singing and writing. She had a special gift to be able convey her thoughts in writing. April loved her family, most of all.

April was preceded in death by: her grandmother, Lana Pivec and grandfather, Clair Hackworth.

She is survived by: her father, Gordon Hackworth (Tammy); mother, Sheri Pivec (special friend David Heinz); grandfather, Donald Pivec; grandmother, Joyce Hackworth; siblings, Tracy, Garrett, Callie and Dylan; nephews and niece, Greyson, Wesley and Olivia; fiancé, Kyle Lindquist; as well as many other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano. Visitation will take place on Thursday, from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service. Private family interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.

Catherine Poirer, 64

Catherine “Cathy” Mary Poirier was born July 16, 1955, in Waverly, the daughter of Arthur and Rosalie (Salonek) Poirier. Her last residence was at Hidden Cove apartments in Buffalo. She spent many years in Chaska, as well.

Cathy was a graduate of Buffalo High School. Following high school, she attended Hennepin Technical College.  She was last employed at Supervalu at their region office in Hopkins.

She spent many hours doing yarn crafts like crocheting and knitting; she also enjoyed sewing and playing with her cat, Cosmo. Cathy grew roses and tomatoes on her deck. She usually attended a girl’s night out with her friends from work once a month. She cherished spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her grandparents, she is preceded in death by her father, Arthur; step-father, Marvin Henning, and her sister-in-law, Jeannie (Pierson) Poirier.

She is survived by her mother, Rosalie; siblings, Carol (Gary) Dietel, Gary Poirier, Clayton (Cathy Segler) Poirier, Donald (Trang Hoang) Poirier, Stephen Poirier, Donna (Nick) Dietel, Dennis Poirier, and Charles (Barb Moore) Poirier; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. Inurnment to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
