A. 2021-22 Budget Assumptions, Gary Kawlewski, Director of Finance and Operations

Major assumption is enrollment. Using November projections and projecting the return of 165 of the 323 students lost due to pandemic. Assuming a 1% increase in general ed funding. Will reduce staff by 7.5 positions due to decrease in enrollment. Budget maintains current class sizes and approved 2014-15 staffing levels.

Ogden/Lee to approve

Discussion: Board members had time to discuss the assumptions during the board retreat.

Will send postcards to incoming kindergarteners.  Hope for the return of 1/3 to 1/2 of the students we lost to homeschooling due to the pandemic. Various funding streams during the pandemic have been very restrictive as to what they can be used for. Legislative decisions will be available in March, although they have been very conservative to-date.  Additional Federal funding could be allocated to the state and then to education.
