Bradley Becker, 47

Bradley Steven Becker, of Maple Grove, passed away peacefully August 6, 2019, surrounded by family. He was born November 18, 1971.

Brad was preceded in death by: his mother, Laurel Becker; grandparents, Iris and Edward Johnson and Irene and Julius Becker; and nephew, Brady Becker. He is survived by sons, Brett, Blake, and Beau; girlfriend, Robyn Adamski; father, Wayne (Sharen) Becker; brothers, Jay (Jenny) and Ryan (Jody); sister, Gretchen (Jon) Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.  

Brad loved life, family and friends, and, above all, his three sons. Brad had a servant’s heart and was known for making people laugh. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his lifelong career as a surveyor. He served for 10 years in the Army National Guard.  

A Celebration of Life for Bradley Becker was held on Friday, August 9, with visitation 3 to 5 p.m. and a service at 5 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 11024 Church Street NE, Hanover. Memorials preferred to Allina Hospice or Glioblastoma Foundation.

Ruth Heisel, 93

Ruth Betty Heisel, age 93, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, after a three-year battle of severe nerve pain from an extreme case of shingles, which she battled with grace.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her husband, Herbert; her son, Mark Heisel; her three sisters, Frances, Helen and Betty; four brothers, George, Laddy, Pep and Charlie.

Ruth is survived by: her children, Steve Heisel (Rose), Gail Heisel, Tim Heisel (Diane); and Daughter Jewell Zwack. Ruth has 10 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren.

Ruth will be remembered for her can-do attitude, love of gardening, beautiful crafting and her love for the Farmers Market. She also lived for her family who she was always there for in every way.

William Jacobs, 59

William “Billy” John Jacobs, age 59, of Coon Rapids, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019. He was born June 25, 1960 in Buffalo, the son of John and Shirley (Thingvold) Jacobs.

Billy lived an active and independent life at Camilia Rose Group Home and spending time with his mom on the weekends, he was her helper and best buddy.

He was a valuable worker at Achieve Services in Blaine, where he just celebrated his 25th year. His favorite task was vacuuming.

The light he brought to the lives of his family, friends, staff and coworkers will never dim because his memory will live on in all of us.

He was truly a special soul, loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Jacobs.

Billy is survived by his loving mother, Shirley J. Jacobs; siblings, Susie Jacobs, David (Pam Taylor) Jacobs, Sandy (Bob) Brama; niece, Brittany; nephews, Chris (Heather), Billy (Christie), Joey, Patrick (Brittany), Timmy, and Jonathan; great-nephew; great-nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM, at The Peterson Chapel, 119 Central Ave, Buffalo. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

Serving the family was The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

 


Beatrice Leonard, 77

Beatrice Mae “Bee” Leonard, age 77, of Delano passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at her residence.

She was born on May 22, 1942 in Minneapolis the daughter of James A. & Marion E. (Custer) Leonard.

She was formerly employed at American Medical Systems in Minnetonka.

“Bee” enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing puzzles, and watching Minnesota Vikings games.  She loved her dog Sandy!

She is survived by: her sons, Christopher (Betsy) Leonard, of Buffalo, and Mark (Molly) Leonard, of White Bear Lake; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; siblings, Aaron Leonard, Marie Veal, James Leonard, Betty Robson, Barbara Henderson and John Leonard; and extended family.

“Bee” was preceded in death by her parents.

Eldon Pawelk, 86

Eldon Herbert Pawelk, age 86, of rural Montrose passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at his residence.

Eldon was born on November 15, 1932 in Woodland Township, Wright County the son of Fred and Elsie (Mielke) Pawelk.

He was baptized on November 20, 1932 by Pastor Theodore Rolf at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.  He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 14, 1946 by Pastor John Meyer at St. Mark. 

Eldon attended Watertown High School.

He honorably served his Country in the United States Army from 1954-1956.

On March 2, 1957, Eldon H. Pawelk and Barbara A. McCalpin were joined in holy marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Eldon engaged in dairy and hog farming most of his life. He also worked at Hiawatha Rubber and worked part-time as a custodian at Watertown-Mayer High School until his retirement.

He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and fishing. He enjoyed making firewood with his grandchildren, and he loved animals.

Eldon was a faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.

He is survived by: his loving wife of sixty-two years, Barbara A. Pawelk; children, Cindy (Larry) Racette, of Winsted, Greg (Susan) Pawelk, of Montrose, Mike (Ranee) Pawelk, of Glencoe and Scott Pawelk, of Montrose; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a twin brother, Eldor (Joan) Pawelk, of Maple Lake;  sister, Priscilla Sievert, of Mankato; many other relatives and friends.

Eldon was preceded in death by: his parents; an infant sister, Friedolla; brothers, Willard, Glennard, DeLloyd, Orville and Kenneth Pawelk; grandson, Keith Racette; and by a sister-in-law, Fran (Ray) Adickes.

Funeral services for Eldon Pawelk will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 12 noon at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany. Pastor LeRoy LaPlant will officiate. Interment with military rites St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waverly. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17 at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.

Casket Bearers will be Eric Pawelk, Joel Pawelk, Kevin Racette, Brad Pawelk, Rich Pawelk, and Pat Pawelk.

David Rice, 64

David Rice, of Waverly, died July 21, 2019 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, of complications from pneumonia while undergoing cancer treatment.  He was 64.

David was born on September 29, 1954 to the late Erling and Lucil Rice of Jupiter Island, Florida, formerly of Hopkins. He graduated from Hopkins Eisenhower High School in 1973 and pursued a lifelong love of engines and racing. He served on several championship race car crews, earned his twin-engine rating as a pilot, enjoyed motorcycles and snowmobiles, and loved fishing in northern Minnesota and Florida. He was a proud member and past president of the Waverly Lions Club. His last weekend was spent happily at the annual Waverly Daze celebration.

Dave is survived by: his brother, Rex Rice (Ann), of Scottsdale, Arizona; sisters, Cathy Farrell (Jack), of Minneapolis, Terry Engels of Minneapolis, Stephanie Warren of Sherman, Connecticut, and Cecilia Kalmbach (John), of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, and his beloved sister, Adrienne “Winky” Rice.

Private interment will be with his parents and sister at St Margaret’s Cemetery in Minnetonka.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dave’s farm, 6407 Emerson Avenue SW, Waverly.

Howard Schmid, 96

Howard T. Schmid, age, 96, of Rogers (Corcoran Township) passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Guardian Angels Engel Haus in Albertville. 

Howard is survived by: his son, Richard (Darlene); son, Ronald (Mary); daughter, Nancy (Tom) Lieder; nine grandchildren, Brian, Jeff, Katie, Laura, Nathan, Megan, Scott, Kevin and Jason; nine great-grandchildren, Brett, Luke, Cole, Alex, Jacob, Levi, William, Trinity and Vince; brother, Alvin Schmid, sister Linda (Schmid) Koepke and sister-in-law Irma (Finke) Schmid.  Preceded in death by his wife Leona M. (Staats) Schmid, his parents, Gustav and Alice (Meyer) Schmid; sister, Leona (Schmid) Lucht; brother, Glenard Schmid; brothers-in-law, Roland Lucht and Larry Koepke; sister-in-law, Ilene (Wolff) Schmid.  

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Visitation was 4-7 p.m. Monday, August 12 at the church with prayer service at 7 p.m. Further visitation was one hour prior to services on Tuesday morning, August 13.

Kathy Trombley, 64

Kathy Louise Trombley, age 64, of Montrose, passed away August 9, 2019.

She was born on August 6, 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Marvin and Ida Mae (Arnhold) Haugen. She attended Cooper High School and graduated with the class of 1973.

On October 27, 1979, she was joined in holy marriage to James Trombley at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Minnetonka. Together they raised three children.

Kathy enjoyed taking the family on camping trips, often spending weeks away from home exploring what the wilderness had to offer. She liked exploring new cities and would take in all the history of the area.

Kathy was incredibly artistic and would create cards with her stamps for all occasions. She liked to personalize cards for people, and would put a lot of thought into making each one special; whether it was for a birthday, graduation, or holiday, she made them truly unique to the person she was gifting them to.

She could spark a conversation with just about anybody. Her warm, calming demeanor naturally made people feel comfortable around her, and she could make friends with anyone.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Marvin.

She is survived by: her husband of 39 years, Jim, of Montrose; children, Joseph (Erin) of Winona, Peter (Meghan), of Montrose, and Mary (Justin) Olsen, of Cokato; grandchildren, Emma, Carter, Will, and Jack; mother, Ida Mae Haugen; brother, Tom (Gail); sister, Carol; many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Montrose United Methodist Church, 230 Center Ave. S, Montrose.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to F.E.E.D, an organization through the United Methodist Church in Montrose.
