Elizabeth Bean, 88

Elizabeth May (Wright) Bean, age 88, of Buffalo, passed away August 1, 2022.

She was born on May 14, 1934, in Duluth, Minnesota, to James and Gladys (Kirkeng) Wright. Elizabeth attended Proctor High School and graduated with the class of 1952.

On October 24, 1953, she was joined in marriage to Charles Bean in Proctor, Minnesota. They lived in Duluth until 1962, and made the move to the Twin Cities area where they raised their family.

Elizabeth “Betty” was a crafty person, and always sewing, needlepoint and cross-stitching items for her friends and family. She liked to try out her luck at the casinos, cheer on the Minnesota Vikings and Gophers, and travel to places like Florida, Hawaii, France. Played piano since a child. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and granddaughter, Kim Wassather, son-in-law, David Zimmel.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Terry) Letourneau, Barbara Steen, Linda Zimmel, and David (Jodi) Bean; sister, Judith Ophus; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 5 P.M. with visitation one hour prior at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, Minnesota.

Daniel Bzdok, 62

Daniel P. Bzdok was born in St. Paul on May 27, 1960. He tragically and unexpectedly passed away on July 27, 2022.

Dan graduated from Harding High in St. Paul and recently retired from Press Operator at Walter G. Anderson. Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman and found himself happiest in Fleming Lake where he would play cards and spend time with his family.

Dan is survived by his children, Danni (Ty) Bzdok-Derousse, of St. Louis, Rebecca Lynn, of U-city, and Brian James, of Buffalo; granddaughter, Stella Petersen; sister, Linda (Jeff) Hammond, of IGH; twin brother, Daryl (Roxanne), of Wright; sisters-in law, Darlene (Dave) Geiger, of St. Paul, Michele Bzdok, of Stacey; ex-wife, Diana, of Zimmerman; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all of whom will miss him terribly.

Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kristen Marie; parents, Donald and Marie (Carufel) Bzdok; brothers, Ronald and David Jerome; and sister, Mary Augustine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo on August 18 at 11 a.m. Visitation will precede the Mass from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. After Mass, lunch will be served at Bison Creek (Huikko’s) in Buffalo. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.

Shirley Hewett, 88

Shirley Ann Hewett, age 88, of Buffalo, MN, passed away May 6, 2022, at Park View Care Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Eden Valley Sportsman’s Club from noon to 2 P.M.

Ricky Rux, 65

Ricky Joseph Rux, age 65, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was born April 13, 1957, the son of Myron and Eleanor (Morin) Rux.

Ricky was a member of the Masonic Nelson Lodge #135 in Buffalo, MN. He enjoyed watching baseball, spending time with his family and friends, and his dog, Jack.

Ricky is survived by his parents, Myron and Eleanor Rux; children, Ricky (Nicki) Rux, Haley Rux, Andrew Rux; grandchildren, Brodi and Aubrey; siblings, Lonnie (Lene) Rux, Sandy (Bill) Scarnato, Julie (Randy) Patnode; beloved dog, Jack; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Scott Stedje, 65

Scott “Doc” Borseth Stedje, age 65, of Buffalo, Minnesota, passed away suddenly on July 11, 2022, due to heart disease.

Scott was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Clifton and Donna (Borseth) Stedje on March 25, 1957. The family moved to Buffalo, Minnesota, in 1965, where Scott resided until his passing. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1975. Scott enjoyed spending time outdoors, both in his career and with his many hobbies.

He started his career in the electrical construction field after graduation. Scott was part of the crew that helped to build the CPA/UPA power line through Minnesota in the mid-1970s. He was a member of the IBEW Local Union 160, had over 40 years of construction experience, and had recently retired as a General Foreman for Donovan Electric. Scott loved all things involving engines, including cars, both new and classic, motorcycles and snowmobiles. He was proud to have restored his dad’s first car, a 1931 Model A Coupe.

His friends gave him the nickname “Doc,” which came from his wide range of knowledge about many topics. In his younger years, Scott took many snowmobile trips to Northern Minnesota and Michigan’s UP. Some other favorites included attending drag races at BIR, “Back to the 50s” Car Shows at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, the Iowa Freedom Rally in Algona and many motorcycle trips around Minnesota and surrounding states.  

Scott is survived by his loving family: parents, Clif and Donna Stedje; sister, Laurie (Paul) Meyer; brother, John (Marcy Stroman) Stedje; girlfriend, Jodi Cummings and her family; nieces, Rachel (Judd) Stevens and Danielle Lachermeier; nephew Erik (Kerstin) Meyer; and many relatives and close friends.  

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 25 at 6:30 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A Time of Gathering will be held from 5:00-6:30 P.M. Luncheon to follow at Bison Creek (Huikko’s) in Buffalo.

Patricia Theis, 94

Patricia Ann Theis, age 94, of Delano, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022. She was born December 16, 1927, to Alex and Emily (Berg) Arnold in Watkins, Minnesota.

She met the love of her life, Harold “Pete” Theis, while riding the school bus. They married on June 25, 1949, and were blessed with three children. Pete and Pat celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary a few months before Pete’s passing in November 2019.

Pat and Pete made their home in Delano, Minnesota, where they ran a Standard Oil Service Station for 50 years prior to selling it to their son, Ken. Pat was the bookkeeper for Pete while he was running the station. She was actively involved in various civic organizations, such as the Delano Fire Department auxiliary and Delano American Legion Auxiliary, as well as volunteering for many local organizations. She and Pete were members of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano for over 70 years. 

Pat loved to play cards, euchre, cribbage, Wednesday night Bridge Club, penny poker, and Tic are just some of the card games that were a staple of her life. The first things Pat’s kids and grandkids think of when it comes to their mom/grandma is that she was always taking care of others.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; parents, Alex and Emily; siblings, Harold Arnold, Emily Marie Kummet, Eleanor “Tootz” Mihlbauer, Ronald Arnold, Donald Arnold, Sonia Arnold, Kenneth Arnold; many Theis and Arnold in-laws.

She is survived by her children, Charles “Chuck” (Kathy) Theis, Kenneth “Ken” (Judy) Theis, and Jeanine (Scott) Johnson; grandchildren, Shannon Theis, Katelyn Theis (Ryan Frink), Parker Johnson, Faith Johnson; great-grandchildren, Elliot and Emmet Pruchnik; sister, June Loch; sisters-in-law, Eileen Arnold and Linda Arnold; brother-in-law, George Kummet; many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, St. Peter’s campus.  Visitation took place on Monday, August 8, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Martha’s Hall of the St. Peter campus and continued on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano, Minnesota.
