Albert Doll, 98
Albert Doll, age 98, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, Margie, in Trophy Club, Texas, on October 26, 2021. He was born and raised in Buffalo, Minnesota.
He graduated from Buffalo High School as the “small, jolly, liked by all” class president. On May 25, 1946, Al married Lillian Copeland (whom he had coincidentally been baptized with, even though they didn’t meet again until several years after high school). They were blessed with six wonderful girls and a son.
When not tending to his children or his various gardens, Al was very involved in Buffalo’s St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He served as a trustee, sang enthusiastically, and played the church organ. Al was also instrumental in establishing the St. Francis’ Knights of Columbus Council more than 70 years ago, where he held the positions of Financial Secretary, Grand Knight, and District Deputy.
Al was an avid woodworker, building cradles for his great-grandchildren and intricate crafts for church bazaars well into his 90’s. In fact, after Vatican II, he took it upon himself to build the first altar facing the people for St. Francis. After retiring from work, Al also decided to retire from shoveling snow and moved to California where he continued to keep busy by volunteering in his church and community. He was recognized by LA County as Volunteer of the Year, but the real prize for Al was the chance to turn every new acquaintance into a dear friend, and perhaps the free shows that came with being a volunteer usher at the community theater.
Al never lost his passion for life, going for hour-long hikes in his 80’s, and continuing to travel well into his 90’s. He loved to play cards into the night well after bedtime until his final days, and he consistently amazed his family by recalling specific card games they had played decades earlier.
After the passing of his first wife, Al married Espie Mondok in California.
Al was preceded in death by Lillian and Espie, as well as his son, David, and his daughters, Jane and Joanne.
Al is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann, Margaret, Kathleen, and Bernadette, as well as eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. His funeral mass was held at St. Francis of Assisi in Grapevine, Texas.
There will be a graveside service at St. Francis Xavier cemetery in Buffalo on July 15 at 11:30 am. Father Nate Meyers will be presiding.

Losing our beloved Dad is heartbreaking. We know how loved he was and are so incredibly thankful for the time we had with him. He is now free of suffering. Dad is with Brent to talk about their hunting adventures. And “Joe and Greta” (his Mom) are reunited, eating the best food and sharing many laughs together.

Timothy Youngren, 86
Timothy David Youngren, age 86, of Howard Lake, MN, passed away June 29, 2022, at The Lodge assisted living facility in Howard Lake. Tim and his twin brother, Ted, were born March 29, 1936, in Minneapolis, MN, to Theodore and Eunice (Schwalen) Youngren.
He was baptized at Calvary Lutheran in Minneapolis and confirmed at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato. He graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1954. On September 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to LaVonne Carlson at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato.
Tim served his country in the United States Army from 1957 through 1958. He was honorably discharged, to return to the farm.
Born in Minneapolis at the Swedish hospital with brother Ted, early in their childhood the Youngren family moved south of Waverly to a rental farm. Later, their parents purchased the Youngren Farm in Howard Lake. Tim and LaVonne subsequently purchased their farm, just down the road, north of Waverly in the 1960’s and enjoyed raising their family at the farm.
Tim was a selfless man with a strong faith in God. He was a dairy and crop farmer that enjoyed life to the fullest. Tim was accident prone. The most notable of which was losing his thumb in a waterskiing accident. As a result of this accident, he met LaVonne where she was a receptionist at the hospital.
He had time for everyone, and no one was a stranger for very long. He loved treats and coffee, butter on everything, mowing the lawn, snowmobiling and ATV rides with friends, and feeding and watching birds. He loved spending time with his family whether working at the farm, around a dinner table, at the lake, or on vacation.
Traveling and the outdoors were passions of Tim and LaVonne’s, including enjoying time in Arizona with LaVonne’s family, traveling to Germany, Israel, New Zealand, and many national and state parks. He enjoyed every school event: sports, music, FFA, and 4-H.
He was Grandpa Tim, Timmy, or Timbo to more than his family, and he loved every person and the joy they brought to his life.
Tim is survived by his wife, LaVonne; children Cindy (Roger) Heuer, Scott (Kim) Youngren, and Wendy (Ryan) Youngren Doran; grandchildren, Alyssa (Adam) Farrell, Josh (Brittany) Myers, David Youngren, Courtney (Travis) Duxbury, Derek (Emily) Youngren, Carl (Ellie) Heuer and Dylan (Kennedy) Youngren and Tessa (Troy) Taylor, of New Zealand; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Grayson and Haylen Farrell, Brodee, Addisyn, Evelyn and Charleigh Myers, Maren, Myla and Maggie Duxbury, Teddy and Henrik Youngren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Eunice Youngren; sister, Lois Hoseth; twin brother, Ted Youngren; and great-granddaughter, Rosalie Heuer.
A funeral service for Tim will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 9, 2022, with visitation beginning at 10 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.
