Calvin Bjorklund, 72

Calvin “Butch” Edgar Bjorklund, age 72, of Buffalo died of cancer on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on September 22nd, 1946 in Watertown, the son of Marvin & Florence (Roehlke) Bjorklund. He was baptized on April 27, 1947 at Buffalo Covenant Church. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo, on May 2, 1982.

Butch was raised on a farm south of Buffalo and attended Carlson grade school, a one room schoolhouse nearby, and later graduated from Buffalo High School in 1966.

On December 9, 1967, Calvin “Butch” Bjorklund and Beverly Ann Klarstrom were joined in holy marriage at All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin, with Pastor Roy officiating. God blessed their 51-and-a-half-year honeymoon with five children.

Butch will be remembered as a loving, kind, compassionate, fun-loving, joke-telling man that loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed making them laugh! He also loved nature, bird watching, hunting, fishing, trips to Duluth, watching westerns, and listening to country and gospel music. He enjoyed attending toy shows and threshing shows. He collected Farmall and International Harvester toy tractors and memorabilia, as well as Cub Cadet lawn tractors. He was a member of the Minnesota Chapter 15 International Harvester Collectors Club and made some lifelong friends. Toy Farmer magazine and Farm Collector magazine both featured articles about his collection. Because of physical limitations, he also enjoyed coloring later in life.

He drove semi-truck nationwide and in Canada for Bjorklund Trucking and Lohse Transfer.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife: Beverly; five children: Ann Bjorklund (Theresa Jones), Betty (Dennis) Havel, Curtiss (Micky) Bjorklund, Darren (Natalie) Bjorklund, and Ellen (Tim) Lohse; 16 grandchildren including Carissa, Lindsey, Krista, Jacob, Coty, Jessie, Jessica, Isaiah, Gabrielle, Riley, Dani, Kali (Drew), Holly (Ryan), Bryce, Chloe, Madelynn; six great-grandchildren: Leonard, Sydney, Atley, Mayah, Leonorah, Christian; many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Edward, sister Jane Hurley, brother-in-law John Hurley, nephew Richard Tesch, and granddaughter Isabella Bjorklund.

Services and visitation will take place at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25 from 4-8 p.m. A Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by a time for sharing memories. The Memorial Service for Calvin “Butch” Bjorklund will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation an hour before.

Friends and family are encouraged to wear red or Farmall/International Harvester/Cub Cadet clothing the day of Butch’s services in memory of his great joy in collecting Farmall and International Harvester toys and memorabilia.

Urn Bearers will be Curtiss Bjorklund and Darren Bjorklund. Burial will take place at a later date.

Elizabeth Cantin, 78

Elizabeth “Bette” Cantin, age 78, of Colorado Springs, CO formerly of Maple Lake, MN, died Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2019 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery, East Maple Lake. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 18 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorials are preferred to Multiple Sclerosis Research.

Elizabeth Ann Cantin was born on April 2, 1941 in Maple Lake to Ernest and Florence (Mueller) Pribyl. She graduated from Maple Lake High School with the Class of 1959. On October 1, 1960, she was united in marriage to Harold Cantin at St. Timothy Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children. Bette worked as a secretary at Maple Lake Public Schools, retiring as District Business Manager in 2001. Bette enjoyed wintering in Alabama and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Annette) Cantin of Colorado Springs; four grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Kummer, Anthony Wolff, Amanda Cantin (Fiance, Jason Devlin) and Sarah (Adam) Dunn; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Eli and Deacon Kummer; brothers and sisters, Ernest (Butch) Pribyl of Buffalo, Jean (Charles) Christopherson of Battle Lake, Deb (Brad) Norine of Annandale and Keith (Melissa) Pribyl of St. Paul; son-in-law, Scott Lilja; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Doris (Jim) Bayerl, Rose Dahlin (friend, Bill Wagner) and Lester (Linda) Cantin. Bette is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Florence Pribyl; husband, Harold Cantin; daughters, Nancy Wolff and Linda Lilja; and great granddaughter, Rylee Kummer.

The casket bearers will be Dan Coffin, Mark Obinger, John Cantin, Scott Lilja, Anthony Wolff and Eric Kummer. The honorary casket bearers will be Thalia Garcia and Yarima Herrera. Krista Elsenpeter and Sarah Goelz will provide the music for the service.

Jennifer Doms, 41

Jennifer Lyn (Piehowski) Doms passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Abbott Northwestern hospital, after a long and courageous thirteen-year battle with Lupus. 

Jennifer was born September 5, 1977 in Coon Rapids, Minnesota and lived most of her life in Buffalo.

Jennifer was adventurous, courageous and loved being with family and friends. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing bingo and sharing her sense of humor with those around her. She was a Twins baseball and Vikings football fan and loved to sit and watch the games.

She touched the lives of many with her smile and was always willing to give of herself to those around her, even when her strength was at a minimum.

She is survived by her children, Cullen Doms and Cailyn Doms; her father, John (Bunnie) Piehowski; mother, Michelle (Kevin) Pelletier; sisters, Adriana (Chad) Klug, Nicole Piehowski, Dawn (Scott) Peterson and Rayn (Robert) Barnes; grandfather, Frederick Pelletier; 15 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, John S. (Red) and Bernice Piehowski, Ron and Delores Quigley; grandfather Jerald Culp and stepbrother Robert Melina.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial service for Jennifer Doms on Thursday, July 18th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Father’s Lutheran Church, 3903 Gilbert Ave. S.E., in Rockford. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, July 18th one hour prior to services.

Susan Hagedorn, 78

Susan Mary (Matthews) Hagedorn, age 78, of Waverly, passed away February 10, 2019.  She was born on April 25, 1940 in Austin, to Harry and Mary (Jordan) Matthews.

On July 7, 1973, she was united in marriage to Lowell R. Hagedorn in Las Vegas, NV.

Susan worked in food service at the Montrose Elementary and Buffalo Junior High School.

Susan loved the country style life and enjoyed living by the river. She enjoyed the animals, caring & feeding the wildlife and the stray cats that found their way to her place.  Susan had many flower gardens and vegetable gardens and cherished all the outdoor endeavors that came with living in the country.

Susan is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell in 2017; parents, Harry and Mary Matthews; and brother, Dave Matthews.

She is survived by her children, Chris (Gerard) Lepak, Jeff Rogers, Greg (Karla) Rogers, and Julie (George) Riddle; grandchildren, Aaron, Emily, Lauren, Bryce, Cole, Ava, Melanie, Mariela, Amanda, Sadie, Heidi, and Melissa; and sister-in-law, Marian Matthew.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20 at 11:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service, all at The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo. Private family interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
