Joan Bechtold, 89

Joan Marie (Schindler) Bechtold, age 89, of Buffalo, MN passed away peacefully in her home to Jesus’ loving arms on November 22, 2020.

She was born on June 3, 1931 to Henry and Adela (Klatt) Schindler of Buffalo, MN.

Joan was baptized at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on July 5, 1931 by Pastor Weiss. She was confirmed in her faith on March 25, 1945 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Buffalo, MN.

Joan graduated from Buffalo High School on May 30, 1949. She then worked doing bookkeeping, typing and office work. Later, she worked at Wonderalls in Buffalo, MN and quickly received higher pay due to her speed and efficiency.

Joan was united in marriage to Glenard R. Bechtold on May 12, 1951 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church-Pelican Lake (rural Buffalo, MN). Their union was blessed with four sons and two daughters.

She was a hardworking wife, mother, and homemaker. She cleaned the Mt. Olive Lutheran School part time after the children were older. When her children were of high school age, she enjoyed working at the Delano Bakery for many years. She loved meeting and talking with all of her customers. She was well-liked by her coworkers, customers, and employers would reward her with a Christmas bonus. Her children especially enjoyed the fresh bread and tasty pastries their Mom would bring home every Saturday.

Mom was a loving, caring mother and grandmother with a large heart. She would talk about how she loved her tap dancing and piano lessons as a young girl. She loved playing hymns on the piano for her family, and her mother would buy her sheet music when she had spare money. She was a great dancer as well!  

She worked hard on the farm as a young girl doing gardening, hoeing and household chores to relieve her mother.

She loved fashion and clothes when she grew older and also made sure her children were dressed well for school and church.

Joan was a feminine lady who had a gift for decorating her home and landscaping her yard. She was a meticulous homemaker and organized bookkeeper.

Joan and Glenard enjoyed traveling during their retirement and visiting nearly every state.

She enjoyed their annual winter trips to Florida and summer vacation in Longville, MN. She also loved taking the grandchildren along on vacations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenard; son, Neal; parents, Henry and Adela Schindler; and by two brothers, Robert and Richard Schindler.

She is survived by her sons, Brian (Kerry) Bechtold, of Richmond, MN, Todd Bechtold, of Buffalo, MN, Mark Bechtold, of Albany, MN; and by two daughters, Jill Ebeling and Joy (Jeffrey Downs), all of Buffalo, MN; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Schindler, of Buffalo, MN, Dolores Schindler, of Hutchinson, MN, and Elaine Bechtold, of Hanover, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral Services for Joan Bechtold were held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford. Pastor Michael Barlow officiated. Carol Wendorf was the organist for the funeral Service.

Interment followed at Mt. Olive Cemetery East in Delano.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Leah Ebeling Baker, Sarah Ebeling Wood, Rachel Ebeling, Tammy Johnson and Darrin Downs.

Casket Bearers were Corey Bechtold, Brady Schlagel, Jason Bechtold, Cody Bechtold, Jared Downs and Dillon Downs.

Bert Carlson, 72

Bert David Carlson, 72, of Buffalo, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Abbott NW Hospital.

Bert is survived by his wife, LouAnn; his children, Carl (Jenny) Carlson and Melanie (Jeremy) Dahlheimer; his grandchildren, Cole and Caden Carlson and John and Jake Dahlheimer; special fur-grandbabies, Ruby, Caliber and Olly; siblings, Art (Sherry) Carlson, Craig (Carol) Carlson; his mother-in-law, Hazel Strand; sister and brother-in-law, Dinah (Bob) Voight; and many nieces, nephews, friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Carlson; father-in-law, Russell Strand; brother and sister-in-law, Casey and Judy Strand.

Bert was born on May 20, 1948 to Earl and Dorothy (Powers) Carlson. He married the love of his life LouAnn (Strand) on April 12, 1975. They were blessed with two amazing children, Carl and Melanie and four perfect grandsons, Cole, John, Caden and Jake. He loved being with his wife; they were never more than two steps behind one another. He enjoyed going up to the cabin in Longville with family and friends and loved to fish. He loved watching his grandkids in all their activities and sports; he never missed an event they were in. Bert learned many valuable life lessons and skills during his working years. He worked at Fanny Farmer and Lakeland Bakery during High School, he serviced four years in the Army and overseas in Korea. When he returned home, he worked at MnDOT; repairing traffic signals, then at NSP for many years and finished his career at Zirc; maintaining the building, machines and various other tasks. He made lifelong friends while doing the jobs he loved.

His favorite thing to do was helping fix everything his grandsons broke; and that was a lot!

Visitation is planned for Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. at Peterson Chapel in Buffalo; a private service will be held at 7 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date. Urn bearers: Cole and Caden Carlson and John and Jake Dahlheimer.

James Lenneman, 87

Private Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Luxemburg for James Lenneman who died Monday, November 23, 2020 at the St. Cloud Hospital. The Rev. Matthew Crane will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Tuesday, December 1 at the church in Luxemburg.

James was born July 25, 1933 in St. Michael to Dominic & Agnes (Dehmer) Lenneman. He married Dorothy Zimmer on June 6, 1959 at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.  He has lived in the Luxemburg area since 1995.  He enjoyed spending time traveling with Dorothy to Alaska and Branson.  His family was very important to him, and he loved traveling with them on vacations and up north to the lakes. He was a member of the Luxemburg Lions Club; he also enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, loved to read, hunt and fish.

He is survived by his son, Gary (Vicki) Lenneman, of Sartell; grandsons, Nick and Will; sisters, Imogene Lenneman, of Minneapolis; Rosemary Lenneman, of St. Cloud; Frances Brazil, of Bloomington; Anita Lenneman, of Minneapolis; and Dalene Lenneman, of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dorothy on July 15, 2020; and sister, Irma Pierre.

 


Caroline Peterson, 68

Caroline LeAnn (Eastling) Peterson, age 68, of Buffalo, Minnesota, passed away on November 18, 2020.

She was born on February 29, 1952 in Hutchinson, Minnesota to LeRoy and Nettie (Bonniwell) Eastling. Caroline grew up in Cokato.  She graduated from Dassel-Cokato High School in 1970, and resided with her family in Buffalo.

Caroline worked for several years at the Dassel nursing home, and then at Walmart in Buffalo for 20 years.

In her free time, you could find her tending her flower and vegetable gardens, creating miniature fairy gardens, doing crossword puzzles, and dancing. She loved spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they would go for walks, spend time outdoors, and go to the local parks to play.

Caroline had a very caring and energetic personality. She loved having long conversations with family and friends and could make new friends very easily with her fun and easygoing nature.

She is preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Nettie; brother, Gary Eastling; and niece, Kari Block.

Caroline is survived by her children, Debbie (Aaron) Friedrichs, Greg Peterson, and David (Jessica) Conlin; grandchildren, Deserae (Jaden) Fortune, Zachary and Austin Friedrichs, and Madison, Rylee, and Logan Conlin; great-grandchildren, Carter and Thomas Fortune; siblings, Kathy (Kenneth) Block, Lester Eastling, Margaret Eastling, Darrell Eastling, Dorothy Drake, and Edward Eastling; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Buffalo Covenant Church in Buffalo, MN. Inurnment will take place at Swedish Mission Cemetery following the service.

Judith Pribyl, 77

Judith A. Pribyl, age 77, of Maple Lake, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.

Funeral Services were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Heartland Evangelical Free Church, Annandale with Pastor Denny Johnson officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Private family burial was held at the Maple Lake Community Cemetery. Masks and social distancing guidelines, as well as capacity limitations will be observed.

Judith Ann Pribyl was born November 27, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Merrill and Ann (Vargo) Ludgate. Judy grew up in Minneapolis, where she attended South High School, graduating in 1960.

On December 13, 1974, she was united in marriage to Ernest “Butch” Pribyl, and they later divorced. They made their home on Maple Lake, where their three children were raised. She worked as a server at Bob’s Bay Club for over 25 years; she spent the next 13 years as a paraprofessional at the Wright Learning Center.

Judy loved spending time on the lake and being outdoors, whether it be waterskiing, fishing, or sitting around a campfire. She also liked to crochet and read. Judy loved to entertain and host gatherings at the lake, and she will lovingly be remembered as “Grandma Judy” to many. Her greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her children, Jeff (Teri) Pribyl, Lori Miller, and Jessica (Ben) Elsenpeter, all of Maple Lake; six grandchildren, Josh (Kaitlyn) Pribyl, Sam Schaffer, Jamie (Cole) Willcoxen, Trenton Miller, Gracie Elsenpeter, and Bryn Elsenpeter; three great-grandchildren, Brody Paulson, Lincoln and Quinley Willcoxen; and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill and Ann Ludgate; and brother, Robert Ludgate; and fiancé, Harlow Penaz.

Judy’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.

Elaine Roepke, 92

Elaine Matilda Roepke, age 92, of Cokato passed away on November 17, 2020 at the Cokato Manor.

She was born in Chaska, MN on June 16, 1928 to Henry and Lydia (Morchen) Schwalbe. Elaine worked on assembly at Tonka Toys and making watches at Nortronix in Dassel, MN. She was a farm wife to Ardell and had six children. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing, camping, vacationing, playing cards and going to the casino. Later in life, she enjoyed activities at the manor, where she would volunteer.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ardell; children, Roger, Kenneth, and Diana.

Survived by her children, Sheldon Roepke, Allan (Mavis) Roepke, and Susan Zeidler; daughters-in-law, Ethel and Shirley Roepke; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
