Lawrence Endres, 89

Lawrence John Endres, age 89, died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Lakeside Oasis in Buffalo, MN. He was born in Otsego Township near Albertville, MN, Wright County, to Isador and Martha (Gilles) Endres on August 14, 1935, baptized at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Albertville, MN, by Father Shiffer on August 15, 1935. He was confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1953. On July 14, 1962, he was united in marriage to Janet L. Mattson at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo, MN. They were blessed with three children.   

After graduating from high school, he worked on the family farm for two years before enlisting in the Army. He served his country in that capacity for two years. After returning home, he worked for Minneapolis Moline. In 1958, he joined the Laborers Union and was a member for fifty-plus years. After retiring from his construction job, he drove school buses for 14 years. He was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church since 1945, serving as an usher for over 40 years and Eucharistic Minister for over 35 years. The family would like to express a special thank you to Malissa and Tracy from Triniti Home Health and Hospice, Nurses Barb and Shannon, and other staff of the Lake Ridge Care Center for their exceptional care and support. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; parents and two infant siblings; sister, Janet Middagh; brothers-in-law, Vernon Holland, and Robert Beissel.

He is survived by his children, Jana Endres, of Buffalo; Jean (Jim) Adcock, of Tennessee Ridge, TN; John Endres, of Buffalo; grandchildren, James Adcock and Jessica (Cole) Earhart, both of TN; great-granddaughters, Holly and Emily Earhart; sisters, Elizabeth Beissel, of Hastings, MN; Janice Holland, of Clear Lake, MN;  brothers, Leo (Marcia) Endres, of Buffalo, and Paul (Karen) Endres, of Buffalo; extended family, Christopher Vassar, of Buffalo, MN; Tiffany, Taylor and Hunter Vassar, of Buffalo, MN; Paul Vassar, of Breckenridge, MN; Angela LeMarr; and many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.   

Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence Endres will be held on Friday, January 24, 11:00 A.M. St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. Interment with military rites to follow at St. Francis Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 4-8 P.M., at the funeral home. K.C. rosary 7:00 P.M. Further visitation Friday morning, January 24, at the church one hour prior to Mass.

Daniel Schmidt, 53

Daniel Robert Schmidt, age 53, of Buffalo, Minnesota, passed away December 25, 2024. He was born on September 16, 1971, in Robbinsdale, MN, to Roy D. Schmidt and Terry L. Torgerson.  Dan graduated from Buffalo Senior High with the class of 1990. He served in the National Guard for four years.

Dan created and co-owned Schmidt Exteriors Roofing for many years. When he wasn’t working, you would find him in his shed working on intricate woodworking pieces or helping family, friends, or even strangers. He had a ‘can do’ attitude in everything he touched and became a master in many trades. Dan always had a smile for everyone, a caring heart, and humor to lighten your day. He was a genuine soul who loved unconditionally.  

He is survived by his sons, Jordan Schmidt (special friend, Abby Meagher) and Tanner Schmidt (fiancé, Lindsay Ward); grandchildren, Elijah and Isabelmay Schmidt; parent, Roy Schmidt; sister, Rachelle McDougall (husband, Mike) and sister, Jennifer Fogleson (wife, Odessa); nieces; Khala, Brittany, and Kjersten; nephews, Ty, Nicholas, Carter, Logan; great nieces, Kirra, Braelyn, Wrenley; great-nephew, Grayson; along with other relatives and friends.  

Dan is preceded in death by Baby Taylor Schmidt (Dan and Paula); mother, Terry L. Torgerson; grandparents, Hugh and Edith Schmidt, Woodrow and Verdienne Torgerson; former spouse and best friend, Paula Gilles Schmidt; and other grandparents, cousins and friends.
