Annandale celebrates America’s independence with 137th parade
Annandale blends small-town charm with big Fourth of July spirit. Each year, a long-standing tradition has brought together generations of families, friends, and neighbors in a celebration to mark our nation’s independence, as Annandale’s Fourth of July Parade returned for its 137th annual march through city streets and avenues.
Construction on Highway 55 didn’t deter crowds from gathering early. Spectators were given the opportunity to begin chair setup at 5:35 a.m. to ensure a top view of the 95 floats, which wound through Annandale along Poplar Avenue, Chestnut Street, Oak Avenue, and Park Street.
Numerous Annandale, and nearby businesses, along with Wright County area royalty ambassadors from neighboring communities participated in this year’s event. A highlight was the People’s Choice Float Contest where spectators could vote online for their favorite float. First place went to Tacos La Chule Mexican Restaurant & Bar.
The carnival opened following the parade, with rides, games, and prizes to be won. The Annandale Ambassador Coronation was held later that evening, along with live music and a fireworks display to round out a perfect Independence Day celebration.
Annandale’s Fourth of July parade provided a vibrant, festive kickoff to a long holiday weekend full of community, celebration, and summertime fun, giving residents and area visitors an opportunity to enjoy America’s 249th Independence Day celebration.
