The Bluebird Effect

Ron Rudolph's journey of making bluebird houses began in Jan. 2018, when his wife, Pat, passed away from cancer. Ron lives in Corcoran, where construction of the bluebird houses keeps his hands busy, kills idle time, and helps keep his mind off of his raw grief. (Photos by Miriam Orr)

This bluebird house was the one that started it all. Mounted in Ron's garage, it gave him the inspiration he needed during his moments of grief to begin construction of other houses.

Ron working a drill in his shop, located in Corcoran. He's been working with wood for over 40 years, and considers himself practically a carpenter, given all of his experience.

Ron's father, who is 90 yeras old, occassionally comes by to help the process along by finishing the tops of the houses.

These are merely a few of the houses that Ron has completed since Pat's death in Jan 2018. He has built over 500 houses since then, and has sold most of them. At the time of this photo, 77 are ready for pickup.
