The smallest of things

The Vetsch family from left to right are: Rachel, Andrew, Ava, Eli, and Lilliana at home just outside of Buffalo.

Avalynn "Ava" Vetsch celebrated her first birthday in February, where family and members of Buffalo Hospital staff gathered to remember the miracle of her birth. (Photos courtesy of The Vetsch Family)

Ava is working on movement and mobility, and is cognitively aware of her family and some of her favorite toys. She can recognize her brother and her sister, as well as her parents.

Ava just got her hip-to-foot cast off on March 7, needed to correct hip displacement, which is a common complication due to cerebral palsy. As soon as she had the casts removed, she was moving her legs slightly.
