Throwing the switch

Tradesmen, like Rick Orr, learn vocational, on-the-job training primarily from experience and hundreds of hours of practice. Orr has been welding, as seen above, for over thirty years, and his skillset has stemmed from working on the job, versus an extensive education. (Photo by Miriam Orr)

Welding, like many trade skills, is in high demand not only in Minnesota, but across the nation. It is a trade that is best learned on the job with practice and overseen training, rather than college education, and most companies will  invest in their employees and pay for certified education, if necessary.
